Tue
Inspect Struts & Shocks
Look for leaks, worn bushings, bent shafts.
Inspect
Wed
Check Ball Joints & Tie Rods
Grab wheel at 12 & 6, then 9 & 3. Any play = replace first.

Rest Day
Let penetrating oil soak on any rusty bolts.
Rest
Week 2 — Installation
Mon
Rest & Final Prep
Clear your workspace. Charge tools. Lay out parts.
Rest
Tue
Front Strut Disassembly
Remove front struts. Use spring compressor carefully.
High
Wed
Install Front Spacers
Mount spacers on strut assembly. Torque to spec (typically 45-65 ft-lbs).
High
Thu
Reassemble Front
Reinstall strut assemblies. Thread locker on all bolts.
High
Fri
Rear Block/Spacer Install
Install rear blocks or spacers per kit instructions.

Sat
Torque All Fasteners
Double-check every bolt. Front: 45-65 ft-lbs. Rear U-bolts: 80-100 ft-lbs.
Active
Sun
Rest Day
Let everything settle. Visual check underneath.
Rest
Week 3 — Alignment & Testing
Mon
Test Drive — Short
10 miles. Listen for clunks. Feel for pull or vibration.
Active
Tue
Schedule Alignment
Book 4-wheel alignment. Tell shop you installed a leveling kit.
Prep
Wed
Professional Alignment
4-wheel alignment. Get printout of before/after specs.
High

After alignment. Everything settles — check all bolts again.
Active
Fri
Inspect Brake Lines
Check for stretched or rubbing brake lines at full droop.
Inspect
Sat
Test Drive — Highway
30-50 miles. Highway speeds. Check steering response and tracking.
Active
Sun
Rest Day
Note any issues you noticed. Research if needed.
Rest
Week 4 — Break-In & Final Check
Mon
Re-Check Ride Height

Inspect
Tue
Inspect for Leaks
Check shocks, struts, and any fluid seepage around mounting points.
Inspect

Practical Notes

Substitutions

Running a spacer-only kit instead of full coilovers? Skip the strut disassembly days (Tue–Thu of Week 2) — spacers install on top of the strut in about 45 minutes per side. Coilover kits add 1–2 hours per side and require a spring compressor. Budget alignment costs $80–$120 at most shops.

Rest Day Rules

Rest days are built in for a reason — suspension components settle under load for 24–48 hours after install. If you skip rest days and re-torque too early, you'll get false readings. If a rest day falls on a day you're free to work, use it to double-check your parts list or clean up tools.

Missed a Day?

Don't skip the re-torque sessions — those are non-negotiable. If you miss a test drive day, double the mileage on the next one. Alignment should happen within 100 miles of install; driving further on bad camber eats tires at $200+ each. If you're more than 3 days behind, restart from the last torque check.

Cost Expectations

Budget kits (spacer): $80–$200. Mid-range (strut extension): $200–$500. Premium (full coilover): $800–$1,800. Alignment: $80–$120. Professional install if DIY isn't your thing: $300–$600 labor. Re-alignment at 500 miles is optional but recommended ($40–$80).
